Hi, we've retired out primary DNS and I want to modify the dns entries for two esx servers VIA "VC2.5".

Does the change require a reboot?

Should I change them one after another?

I've checked my new primary DNS and there is a entry in there for the esx's, so that's good.

Just looking for a little advice from someone's who's done this..

This would be prudent, but if your confident of the change then this shouldnt matter too much. (I imagine your secondary DNS server is still running.)

The only issue I can imagine to be the problem would be HA, which was so fussy with DNS (pre Update2)

But again, I assume your secondary is running fine...

No there is no requirement for a reboot,

Should I change them one after another?

I am assuming that you have a secondary DNS if so then you can change them one at a time, the second server will use the secondary DNS for name resolution until such a time that you have changed the primary DNS address.

That means the HA should work.

so long as you have a working secondary DNS that is correctly relicated then name resolution will work as normal.

I made the change just moments ago.

The secondary DNS server entry was valid and has not changed.

Since the primary is active now on both I should be ok.

So I took the leap of faith.
