Cant connect to vsphere

Hey everyone!

We have 2 hosts, esxi4 and one iscsi SAN. We use vsphere4. Today I noticed my veeam backups of my VM used for Vsphere was failing, with an error or: Failed to freeze guest, wait timeout.

I rebooted Vsphere, then I could not connect. I RDP'd to the server, and found the vsphere service wasnt running, and could not be restarted.

What should I do now, reinstall Vsphere?? I think you have to remove and install it all over again. Any gotcha's with doing this?

Thanks!

Peter

Hello.

This discussion was moved from the vSphere Upgrade & Install forum to the vCenter forum. The emoticon was also removed from the subject line.

These issues are usually database related. What database are you using, and is it local or remote? Can you connect and verify that your database is up and running?

Good Luck!

Are those SQL Server Express services started?

Did any other services set to Automatic not start?

Any errors in the Event Log?

Could you please go to command line and then browse in c:\program files\vmware\Infrastruce\vmware virtual center\

and type vpxd -s and give us the output.
