Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password

I have ESXI 5.0 vcenter and vsphere client.

My vcenter is installed on a Windows 2008 R2 ssytem.

When I log into the vsphere client with an administrator account of the vcenter windows server system I have no issue.

When I log onto vsphere client with a non-administrator account of the windows server system, I receive the following error:

Error Connecting

Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password

I believe the problem is due to a setting in secpol of the windows server system.

Does anyone know which configuration setting or key would be required to allow non-administrators access to the vcenter through vsphere client?

Thanks,

Pete

This account, is it in an Role assigned permissions within vCenter?

HI,

Login as administrator/equvalent into VI or vSphere clients -->home --> Host and Clusters > Select the vCenterserver-> Permission --> rt click in blank space and Add permission --> Select the role which you want to add for a particular user and Add the user.

Thanks

Troubleshot problem, it was from a result of implementing a security configuration on the Windows Server 2008 R2.

The configuration in the secpol.msc-> user rights assignment-> Access this computer from the network.

The setting was set to administrators only, after adding users to the setting, all users were able to login with the windows credentials..

  • You can access and manage vCenter vm console but not in vclient.
  • Have you restart vcenter vm several times?
  • Check vCenter services if started.
  • Failed in manually start/restarted vCenter services
  • Check vCenter database log free capacity
  • Add additional capacity to your database log
  • Check vCenter services is started
  • Connect to your vClient using vcenter user name and password.
  • Managent your datacenter

Enjoy let me know if you have question..
