Can't login with administrator@vmware.local

I was able to generate a new password last week for the Vcenter Server Appliance (5.5U2) and it worked for logging in so I made note of it and I came in today ready to upgrade to Vcenter 6.0 only to find out it won't accept the password again. I figured no big deal, I'll just reset it again but I've tried 4x newly generated passwords (none with a "!") but it won't let me login. I'm following the instructions I followed last week to generate them using Putty:

https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=20346... 5.5

Any idea why it's not working? I can't upgrade it without those creds.

I mean the PW seems to reset but still won't let me login using the newly generated PW

Are you really using the administrator@vmware.local instead of administrator@vsphere.local ?

Bingo that was it. Can't believe I missed that. Thanks for the reply.
