Can't Install Single Sign-On Server (SSO) using SQL express

I receive the following error message when attempting to install vCenter Server using the local bundled SQL Server Express database:

"the microsoft sql server express edition installer returned error code '2226914986'"

It seems to get to the end of the install of SSO and then returns this error and stops.  I get the same error whether I use simple install or whether I attempt to install SSO as an individual step in the installation menu.

This is vCenter Server 5.1.0b

Ideas?

Is this a new install on a new box?

Try installing again and once the error pops up, check out the % temp% and share thw vminst.log and msi logs

Looks like an environmental issue at first glance though!

Called VMware support and they looked at the logs and couldn't figure it out.  Ended up putting SSO database on a bona-fide SQL server separate from vCenter Server to avoid the bugginess of the SQL express installer which is packaged with the vCenter install CD.
