Can VMware converter for Debian?

Hello

I'm thinking to try to convert Debian, have someone done it ?

it is not officially supproted. however there are people who have used the cold clone and then going in to change the scsi drivers and etc. you could google for more info.

Not supported by 4.3 but it's workable. Ubuntu is debian like linux distro. I'm succesfully converted (hot clone) 2x Debian last time with converter 4.0

You can try doing a cold clone of a VM and then change the drivers accordingly  which would be supported but if you would try to convert Debian using VMware converter, it will not be supported by VMware.

Download VMware vCenter Converter 4.3:

Hi

I can confirm that. No problems to hot clone a debian (lenny) with the standalone converter. I can't remember the version we use at the moment and I'm on vacation :smileygrin:

good to hear that someone actually gurantees on the same but if its production machine then make sure you do it at own's risk and not depend on Communities as Vmware support will claim it as unsupported configuration.

Or  you can trick them and not disclose about the conversion... Smiley Happy
