Can someone tell me if it's possible to delegate management of ESX virtual networking (creating vswitches/port groups/etc) without making the user a full datacenter admin?
As far as I can tell, there's no way but I'm hoping someone out there will prove me wrong.....easy points...go on, make someone (me) happy today.
If there are privleges that detail to switch management, you should be able to create a customized role using VC permissions -
There isn't anything specific to vswitch management. There is a role permission for network configuration. I haven't tested it, so don't know how far it will get you. As weinstein5 stated, you will have to use a custom role assigned to test functionality.

Thanks - I had a bit of a play around with custom roles and permissions and seem to have found something to do the job so I'll pass it to the networking team and see what they say.
