Building New vCenter

I was wondering if there is any ill results of (re)building a new vCenter Server to replace my current one. Basically I want to build a new vCenter server with Windows 2008 and SQL 2008.

I have a very small VM environment so what are your thoughts?

Thanks

Aaron

Hello.

As long as you take the right precautions, this is a pretty safe operation. Check out kb 5850444 for all of the information on how to make it happen.

Good Luck!

Could I just remove the ESX hosts, build a new vCenter server and then add the hosts again?

yes, that will work as well. However, if you have any folder structure setup in your Virtual Machines & Templates View, that will be lost.

Following the KB that was pointed out earlier is great advise.

Sure, that would be an option as well.

The vCenter doesn't do much right now except centralize my vm's I haven't used it for anything else as yet but I was getting the out of memory/cpu usage bug so I wanted to start with a fresh 4.0 build instead of the upgrade.
