Backup options for ESX 3i

Hi,

What are the backup options available for the new ESX 3i that vmware has announced? ESX 3i will not be having the service console and hence my question. Will the existing backup products like ESX-ranger and esxpress still work Or is the Windows based VCB the only option we have.

Thanks,

Prasad.

Hi Prasad,

While having access to the service console makes life easier for our developers, it is in no way required. Our VBAs (Virtual Backup Appliances) will work just fine without the console. Our Virtual Iron solution (VIron hass no console either), will work on the ESX 3i platform with almost no modifications.

So esXpress is prepared and will have product out shortly. And to take advantage of this new larger platform, we have also increased the number of vCPUs available the the VBAs to 4, added super aggressive multi-threaded mode (optional), and can now support 32 and 64 core systems by allowing up to 16 VBAs to run on these hosts.

Whatever the future holds, we're ready.
