Backing up host configurationdata with VDR

Hi

i am studying for the vcp exam and i need help with a topic in the book regarding backups to an esxi host,the book states that if a configuration is backed up after the recovery cd (esxi embedded) or the repair operation (esxi installable) is used, the serial number is not preserved, what serial number are they referring to here and how would this cause issues down the line, licensing issuesmaybe?????

ESXi host license serial number. if the host is attached to a vcenter the serial number will be reused when you rejoin the vcenter. if it is a standalone a new server will have 60 days of trial and you will just need to enter the key manually.
