Authentication to SMTP server to send mail messages when alarm happens

I defined an alarm to send a mail message when a given event happens.

I configured the SMTP server and I can specify a mail sender but not the related password.

My SMTP server (and almost all the SMTP server I know) require authentication to send messages.

Where can I specify the required credentials to send mail messages?

vCenter supports plain SMTP and not ESMTP, so no auth configuration possible.

Thank you for your message.

Given almost all the SMTP servers require authentication, what can be a possible solution to send mail messages?

One  way to explore is to set the rule. Check the below

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100407...

-->
Verify that the mail server  configuration allows for mail to be sent from the vCenter Server. The  ability to send mail may be restricted so that anonymous email is not  allowed or that specific user accounts are required to send mail. If  this is the case a rule must be created to allow the vCenter Server to  send email, as there is currently no way to configure SMTP  authentication with vCenter Server.
