Allocating dedicated SAN space on guests in ESX 3.x servers

Hi,

I am trying to add a separate LUN for my guest servers in ESX 3.x, Well i used to do this in ESX 2.x by selecting Add device >> SCSI Devices and i used to specify the LUN ID (Like vmhba1:0:48:0). ESX 3.x guests do not enable adding SCSI devices to guest servers. Anybody please suggest..

Thanks Adithya

When i try to Add a new device to a guest, In the Add Hardware Wizard it shows as 'SCSI device (not available). in the Information at the right side it says ' There are no non-disk SCSI devices available on the host'.

Pls help..

If you click on "SCSI device", on the right side it says that this is for "non-disk SCSI devices". For example, if you wanted one of your VMs to use a physical tape drive, you'd add it through this interface.

I think what you want to do is add it as a hard disk. In my VC, this is the option right above "SCSI device".

I have a couple VMs with RDMs (Raw Device Mappings) and this is how I added them.
