After Upgrade to vCenter 4 can not see VM files on iSCSI datastore

We upgraded to vCenter v4. After rebooting of iSCSI Datastore Server, vCenter cannot see the

files on iSCSI datastore that was previously attached. The iSCSI datastore is visible in vCenter, but if I go to "View datastore" I cannot see any file on this datastore. I cannot start VMs on this datastore from vCenter, I get the error "VM Object not found."

But if I go directly to the ESX3.5 host with vCenter Client, I can see the iSCSI Datastore AND all files on it. And I can start VMs from ESX 3.5 host.

Anybody else

experiencing this or have suggestions how to troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Dmitri

Have you tried to restart your vCenter Server after the iSCSI storage restart?

Yes, I have restarted the vCenter Server after the iSCSI storage restart, but it didn't help.

The solution was:

1. Shut down iSCSI Storage Server.

2. On one of our 7 ESX Host Server (for example - Host A) delete the IP Address of the iSCSI Storage Server from iSCSI vmhba and disable iSCSI vmhba. After that, restart this ESX Host.

3. Rescan iSCSI vmhba on all ESX Hosts. Thus the iSCSI Storage was deleted from vCenter.

4. Start iSCSI Storage Server.

5. On Host A enable iSCSI vmhba and add the IP of the iSCSI Storage Server in the iSCSI vmhba again. Now the VM files are visible in the Datastore Browser on the host A!

6. Rescan iSCSI vmhba on all ESX Hosts again. Now all VMs on the iSCSI Storage Server are available for all ESX Hosts.

Best Regards,

Dmitri
