I upgraded Virtual Center from 2.5 to 2.5 Update 1 last weekend. Today I noted that some of the Advance options for the VMs are missing, particularly the boot delay option which is the one I really need right now. This doesn't appear to be a permissions issue as I've logged into VC as the local admin account on the server. Comparing my VC in lab which was not updated, I still have all the advanced options (General; CPUID Mask; Boot Options; Paravirtualization; Fiber Channel NPIV; Virtualized MMU; Swapfile location.)
In the updated version, I only have General and CPUID Mask.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
I have seen similar issues going form 2.0 to 2.5 - what fixed it there is by reinstalling the VI client -
I re-installed the client but the advanced options are still missing...
Turns out those missing advance options are only available in ESX 3.5 (with VC 2.5.) After looking through the servers, they're present on all the 3.5 servers and missing on the 3.02 servers.
