Adding host to vCenter - the host is already connected

Hi,

Im trying to add two hosts to VmWare VCenter Server 5.1  when it comes to adding the second host I get the error message that the host is already connected when its not - any ideas please?

Please check whether the host's names resolve to the correct IP address, i.e. check whether there's a wrong DNS entry.

Managed to overcome this by adding  the second host to a cluster then moving it out - strange why this should happen, any ideas why?

I was able to avoid this issue in a similar way:

I added the host to another vcenter instance.  This successfully unassociated it with the current vcenter.

I then added it back.

restart Management services on the host
