Add an ESXI 5.5 to vCenter 6.0

Hi guys,

I'm currently working on a vdi solution and I consequently need a vCenter (6.0).
I took the evaluation mode and everything was alright until I tried to add my ESXI (5.5) to the vCenter, I had an error message like : "license can't not perform this operation... Plz Upgrade your license."
I looked for a trial version, or a temporary key for vCenter but it seems that this version doesn't need any key... Therefore I didn't find any key or license to be able to add a host.

Help would be very appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Simon,

how is the ESXi host licensed? If it is using a free license key then you won't be able to add it to vCenter.

You may want to remove the license key from the host to revert it to evaluation mode. However, this is only possible within 60 days after host install.

This is exactly what it sounds like. Either you are licensed for the hypervisor only or you are licensed for Essentials or Essentials Plus which cannot be added to a vCenter Standard instance.
