Add Host to New vCenter 4: vmodl.fault.MethodNotFound

When adding a Host to a new vCenter I get this error

A general system error occurred: vmodl.fault.MethodNotFound

The hosts are also vSphere as well as the vCenter server. Of course this is in test and trying to get it working. Would anyone have any ideas about this one.

Thank you in advance...

It would be great if you can provide ESX Host build number and the Virtual Center build number too.

I have the same issue.

Using VMware-VMvisor-Installer-4.0.0-164009.x86_64 and VMware-VIMSetup-all-4.0.0-162902

I have tried using ESXi from a USB thumb drive as well as installed on local disk

Using Evaluation licenses.

I have tried vCenter on two different installs of Win2k3 w/ SP2 (32-bit)

vCenter is part of a domain and is on the same subnet as ESXi

I have tried using SQL on a remote server as well as SQL Express installed locally on the vCenter server.

I have verified the network settings, and DNS. Name resolution and network connectivity is working.

The task will get to 80 percent when it fails with the message "A general system error occurred: modl.fault.MethodNotFound"

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Can you please generate the Virtual Center Server log bundle along with log files from the problemetic ESX host and upload that to us for further analysis? Thx.

You need the esxi build 175625 for vcenter server 162902
