Account used to connect to SQL server (Windows/local SQL account

Hello,

I'm having some difficulties in setting up VC using the account to talk to the SQL server. From previous post I think the answer is the account must be a local SQL account and not a Domain Windows account.

Basically I have a server that's running SQL 2000 SP4 and a separate server with VC installed. I've created the database and used a windows account for authentication. When setting up the DSN and I've tested the connection which connects successfully but the VC service fails to start. If I create a local SQL account everything works. Is this correct that I need to use a local SQL account even though I have Windows Authentication selected?

Thanks for your help

If you use a separate SQL Server Server you have to create an SQL Login (not Windows account) and give it DB Owner permission on the DB you created to be used by Virtual Center. When you setup Virtual Center you have to enter that SQL Login credential, SQL must be configured for both Authentications (Windows and SQL).
