4.0u2 > 4.1 server migration question

I'm currently experimenting with a VC 4.0u2 > 4.1 migration. I've setup a new Windows 2008R2 host for the VC and have run the data migration tool on the old VC and then again on the new VC to import the config. I'm a little confused as to what to do after the migration successfully completes... Do I take the old VC offline, remove from AD and then set the parameters of the new VC to those of the old (i.e. IP address, hostname)? Do I leave the IP and hostname as new entities and then alter the info on the ESX servers and within View? What's best?
