agent connection exception

I installed the server and agent on a win 2003 box and now am getting these errors, any ideas or hints?


The configuration has not been set for this resource due to : Invalid configuration: Error contacting resource: Unable to connect to SNMP Agent

here is the agent status

Server IP address: 127.0.0.1
Server port: 7080
Agent listen port: 2144

Reading throught the forum, I wonder if it is because I do not have admin right to the computer and am not allowed to connect to port 161?

I set the snmp to version 3 and got:

The configuration has not been set for this resource due to : Invalid configuration: Error reported by Agent @ 10.160.152.213:2144: java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: v3 snmp4j support not yet

So it loook like contact to the agent is established but the agent is not allowed to use port 161, maybe??

You're going to have to take a step back. I'm not clear on what's
happening. Exactly what are you trying to do? Are you having problems
with the HQ Agent in general or are you having problems contacting a
network device or something over SNMP?

This error:

org.hyperic.hq.agent.AgentConnectionException: Client from /127.0.0.1
unauthorized

Looks like it's from the agent.log and is saying that the HQ Agent is
rejecting an unauthorized connection. This would happen if an HQ Server
that this agent is not configured to communicate with tries to contact
the agent.

This error:

Agent (127.0.0.1:161 v2c,public)

Looks like it's from the HQ GUI and appears to be a problem setting up
an SNMP resource.

These are two different problems. Please explain exactly what you are
trying to do and exactly what behavior you're seeing.
