Using HQ Hyperic server to monitor Nagios clients

Hi All,

We have currently using Nagios as the monitoring tool.
Is there a way by which i could use the HQ Hyperic Server to directly monitor my Nagios clients ? if yes, please let me know the procedure for the same ?
What changes are required at the HQ Hyperic server end ? and what changes are required at Nagios client end ?

Does the HQ Open Source support such a feature ?

Yes, you can do this in one of two ways.

1. Run nagios checks as platform service(script service). You will have to manually add each check and the options to pass to it.

2. Have HQ parse the nagios config to add all the checks for you. This will keep the options and the collection intervals but you will have to redefine thresholds for alerting.

Thanks Ama, sorry to say that I still have more doubts.

Do we need to download some plugin s/w from HQ site? Or the existing HQ server software itself has this feature build in? (Note:- I am using the free version of HQ server).

I have a working HQ server and a working Nagios server & Nagios client.

Can you please let me know if there is a document that explains how we can utilize the HQ server (Configure step by step) to monitor the Nagios client?

I am new to both these s/w, kindly guide.

Hi Karthik,

just install a Hyperic Agent on your Nagios Server and connect it to Hyperic Server . Nagios should be auto discovered with its checks and from that time Hyperic should execute all nagios checks now.

Thanks excowboy, i did the same and could see Nagios listed under "Deployed Servers Health" , but which i click on this service, i do not see any thing.
I have attached the snapshot of the same, kindly review.

One more observation is that, if i do the same thing to sendmail service, i get the required detials. Snapshot of the same is also attached in the same attachment.
