Unable to connect agent with hq-server

I have two machines on the same network. One has the hq-agent and the other has the hq-server. When I run >hq-agent.exe Start and input the hq-server IP I get the following error: "Testing insecure connection ...Failure"

I am able to connect the agent running on the same hq-server, but when I install the agent on a different machine, I am not able to make the connection.

What am I missing here?

Just based on the success installing the agent on the machine running the server, I would look for a firewall rule problem somewhere if general network connectivity between the two machines is working. The agent needs to be able to talk to port 7080 on the server, and the server needs to be able to talk to port 2144 on the agent if you used installation defaults. Can you provide a little more information about your environment? Sounds like you are trying to install a Windows agent on the box giving your problems. What OS are you using for the server?

Do the [install_path]/log/agent.log on the failing installation, or the [install_path]/logs/server.log files provide any indication about what may be going on?

If you have already got the agent installed as a service and started, you will want to stop it through the Windows Service Control Panel. You may then want to reinitialize the agent configuration by running:

hq-agent.exe setup

It will ask you for the configuration information again, and then should successfully connect to the server. If it still does not work, and you are running SP2 on your Windows XP box, you may want to verify the firewall is turned off, or is allowing connections to the ports being used by HQ.
