Trying to monitor ldap on a solaris 9x system--what does the baseDN mean in

Im trying to monitor ldap on a solaris 9x system--what does the baseDN mean in
the config file ??? Its marked with a red * so I need to supply a value. What is it asking for ??
How do I find what this entry should be ?

I see other blanck entries ,

binf PW what passwd ? Do I need this (NO red *).?
also what is I see bindDN entry Do I need this (NO red *).?

Hi Mike,

The BaseDN is the base for your search queries. For example, o=Hyperic,c=US. This is the same BaseDN you would pass to utilities like ldapsearch when using a filter.

As for the bind dn, user, and password, you will only need this if your directory requires you authenticate before doing a search. If your directory allows anonymous searches you can leave them blank.

Thanks so much. That did it . Where do I find info such as what you provided for variables etc that hyperic config files need ? :

o=Hyperic,c=US
