There is no running hyperic process in log file...

Dear all,

we have just install fresh copy of Hyperic. Very few things configured on it, no agents are yet deployed.

We have noticed that hyperic server is trying to connect to several servers and check is agent installed or not.

We have found log files on several servers looking like this "cat /var/log/get_hyperic_status_20141020075055.log" where states:

There is no running hyperic process, looking for a marker file to see if agent has been seen running on this vm in the past

Marker file not found, agent is not installed on this vm.

Why is Hyperic trying to connect random servers and how we can disable that?

We will install agents on some hosts but we don't want Hyperic goes around the network and ping random servers?

Thank you for answer.

Hello Goran,

Do you have vCenter Infrastructure Navigator (VIN) deployed in your environment?

Starting with VIN 5.7 we added the ability to check if a Hyperic Agent is installed on the guest using VMware Tools.

Hope this helps,

-Ed
