Monitoring services without agent

I need to monitor some services by polling tcp or udp,

Is it possible tor create such an event without having an agent installed.

For Example: pinging port 80 on a webserver

Sure. Log into HQ, select the HQ server's platform to view, then click the "inventory" tab, then click the "new" button under "Services", and add away. You're basically piggybacking the server's client.
