Is there a way for me to monitor external services (i.e. ones that don't run in my data center on my hosts)?
I'd like to monitor availability for services like outbound SMTP and inbound Atom and RSS that are run by external providers. I thought I'd read or heard about plugins that can access arbitrary network services, but I can't seem to find any info on such beasts.
