Monitoring Log Files

Hello! I have installed Hyperic 3.0 on linux platform. And i am trying to monitor log files of windows platform. But i am not able to get alert... And i am trying to implement cold start too..

Please can anyone help with these..

Can you post what kind of logs you're trying to monitor, what you've done thus far, and whether you're getting any kind of error?

Hi!

I am using Hyperic 3.0.1 and has setup server on fedora 5 and i am trying to monitor log files where my agent is installed i.e. on winows xp.

I went in the configure Platform link in the tools menu of the platform and gaved the path of the file which i wanted to get the alert..

I have attached the images of the inventory and alert creation.
Initially I had created alert for monitering ANY "Event/log level", then i was successfully getting it.
Then i changed the log level to ERROR.
But i m not getting any alerts now.

For time being i have created my own log file which i want to moniter.

Hi Zainab,

You may find the new Test Ride Guide useful. There's a section in there on configuring logfiles. Its in the whitepapers section on the website/ http://www.hyperic.com/resources/whitepapers.html.
