Is there a way to upgrade a hyperic server and point to an external DB

Im currently running the postgreSQL 8.1 on a linux unbuntu system . I was asked to upgrade to the latest version of the hyperic server, BUT use a external MYsql database .

Is there a way to UPGRADE so I dont lose all my configuration alerts etc BUT use a EXTERNAL mysql DB. ????

There is no current upgrade path for this. However, there are migration tools that may or may not help you (we cannot vouch for them):

Some people have also apparently found help with Apatar: http://solutions.mysql.com/solutions/item.php?id=441

YMMV. Let us know if they work. If the question becomes "what do I recommend" then that changes things significantly - I wouldn't recommend migrating to another DB architecture unless you really know what you're doing. Migrating to an outside postgres instance, however, should be rather trivial.
