Hyperic HQ 5.8.1 no metric data on all monitored servers

Hello  we have an issue whereby all our monitored servers have shown availability data but no other metric data for that last few days.

I can confirm all the agent machines are on the same windows domain and get their time from the same time server .  All of the agent machines are within 2 seconds of each other time wise and that HQ server is within 1 second of the domain time as it uses the same time server.

The Hyperic server is running centos 6.4 with Postgres 9.1 database and JRE 1.6.0-45

All the servers are on the same physical network, all network cards and switches are gigabit.

If you need any further information please let me know.

How do we resolve this issue of no metric data received?

Hi,

From your post I understood that you HAS metric data before. Did you ?

Can you explain what happened, what you did (e.g. restart) ?

Do you see metric data on any hq platforms/servers/services ?

You enumerate very important details, but forgot another one LOG FILE. Smiley Happy

Please attach agent.log file.

Hi

Yes we were receiving metric data before.  Nothing that we are aware of had changed.  We had not rebooted, no updates had been applied to the operating system.

The only reason we know there was not metric data was because we were not getting alerts, specifically a low disk space alert on one server. It was when we checked on the dashboard and resources that we noticed there was no metric data other than availability for all servers.

Please find  attached  log files in zip format.

regards

spencer

Is your hyperic server runnning in same domain ?

"Connection to https://192.168.0.196:7443 refused"

Which technologies do you have on machine where hq agent was installed (e.g. Dotnet, MSSQL) ?

The hyperic server is not joined to the local domain.  It is on the same subnet as the agent servers.

The machine with the agent logs is running Windows server 2008 R2 and Windows Terminal Services.

It acts as a fileserver.

You have many connection issues. Please check your SSL connection or try to run agent without SSL.

In addition there is "Metric Value not found..." issues. Dotnet plugin looking for metric values in perfmon and cannot find. Go to perfmon and check it.

Another option:

Stop the agent, delete data directory, go to hyperic UI and delete relevant platform. Start the agent.

Agent'll re-discover deleted platform/servers/services.

Good Luck
