Hyperic HQ 3.0.0 Beta 4

A new beta is now available at SourceForge.net - http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=172556&package_id=216642

See the release notes: http://support.hyperic.com/confluence/display/DOC/Release+Notes

Again, this is *not* recommended for production use - use at your own risk. Kids, do not try this at home.

which changes were made from the 236 to 260 version. Is it worth the work in upgrading
these?? I undertstand from reading that I cant just upgrade , I have to build a new directory
and go through a new like install and archive the old 236 version CORRECT?

Mike, please take a look at the the Release Notes link provided by JM in his post originating this thread. In particular, see the notes regarding beta to beta upgrade breakage in build 260 due to major changes that have been made to improve the product and resolve open bugs. Also, at this same URL, you will find (at the bottom) the full list of resolved 3.0 bugs, and the list of known open bugs as of the date of this release.

260 is significantly improved over 236 in both appearance (UI changes), and working features (closed bugs). Since neither release is considered production ready as a beta, you will have to evaluate the worth of redeployment in your test environment based on your own interest and needs. We would certainly welcome your continued participation in the beta, but would understand if you chose to wait for a release candidate or final release.

Is this release NOTE saying I cannot upgrade from 242 to 260. Thus I will thus lose all the accounts and alerts and graphs that I just recently created CORRECT ???
Beta 3, Build 260
Due to a number of major changes Beta 3 must be installed from scratch. Beta 3 can not upgrade from earlier Beta releases.

No way around doing a whole new install ???

Hi Mike,

We don't have a tested way of upgrading the data from one beta to the next. To get an idea of the changes that have taken place, browse our Subversion repository - http://svn.hyperic.org/

We upgraded our demo machines from one beta to the other, and I'm pretty sure those were brand new installs. I'll confirm that with our demo guy and post his info here.

I went to the http://svn.hyperic.org/ link BUT am NOT sure how to interpret it. How would I see the fixes or changes from Beta 3.0 v242 and version 260. I really DONT want to re-install
if the changes from 242 to 260 are small or of little importance is testing the open source
version of hyperic. Also did you find a way to upgrade from 242 to 260 without doing a full
new install ????

Mike,

After speaking with our internal demo folks, all of the installs were done fresh - even we didn't try to do upgrades.
