HQ has a great implementation of groups. You can make groups of like or unlike resources. However, managing this information can be unwieldy to managment. So, how do you make your resources easily reterived? This way, someone can search for conical names in the group search box.
When you import a server, I put it in several groups. For example I use this method:
Conical Use - Server - Sub Type
For example
Application Servers - Linux
Application Servers - Apache 2.0 - Localhost Vhost
Application Servers - Resin 2.x - MyWebapp
OR
Database Servers - Oracle 10 - Default Listner
