Does the JRE that HYPeric install modify or affect other versions of JRE on

I have been asked by some windows admins running applications that use JRE or some database. the following:
If they install a HYperic open source client on these systems will it affect or modify the JRE
that their application is using ??? If the JRE that HYperic installs is a different version ?

Are there any other problems thst msy bre caused by installing a client on a window or
unix box.

The Hyperic products are bundled with a JRE for the sake of
convenience. You can choose to use your own JRE, assuming it meets
the minimum requirements (basically 1.4+). However, the bundled JRE
will in no way affect any existing JRE you have in your environment.
The JRE is installed in a subdirectory in each of the Hyperic
products and is fully contained in that directory.

If I installed the server and agent with the bundled JRE, is there an easy way to migrate these installations to another java installation? I couldn't find an easy way.

There are a couple of ways to change the JRE which the agent uses:

1) Set an environment variable HQ_JAVA_HOME that points to the JRE you wish the agent to use and restart the agent.

or

2) Replace the jre directory within the agent with the JRE you wish to use. (Of course after first backing up the original jre directory)
