  • 1.  Customizing email alert notifications

    Posted Jun 10, 2010 01:11 PM
I've been asked to change the verbiage of the email alert notifications. Is this possible?

For example, currently we receive the following when the availability of a server changes:

Subject: [HQ] !!! - [alert name] [resource name]

    Message:
[resource name] has generated the following alert:
[alert name] [resource name] Availability (0.0%)

    ----------------------------------------------------------
    ALERT DETAIL
    -Resource Name
    -Alert Name
    -Alert Description
    -Alert Date / Time
    -Triggering Condition(s)
    -Alert Severity

    Last Indicator Metrics Collected

Can this be changed to a custom email, such as

Subject: The Database Server has changed availability status

    Message:
Availability on the Database Server has changed (0.0%). Please investigate, and, if necessary, log a ticket: [internal help desk URL]

    ? Thanks

Yes, this is possible. There's some documentation at http://support.hyperic.com/display/DOC/Tailoring+Alert+Notification+Templates
