Couple of basic Hyperic questions

Can the polling interval to the agents be modified?  Can they be modified on a per agent basis?

Can duplicate alerts be suppressed?

DoesHyperichave the ability to monitor or limit the amount of CPU that theHypericagent uses?

Thanks,

Hi,

  1. You can modify the polling interval for resources in the following scope:
    1. Resource type- You can modify the default polling interval for a resource type. The modified interval value will be used as default value of all resources of the same type.
(Administration-- > Monitoring defaults -- > choose resource and click on EDIT METRIC TEMPLATE)
    2. Resource instance- You can modify the default polling interval for specific resource instance. The modified interval value will be used only by current resource instance.
(Choose resource -- >METRIC DATA Tab -- > check the metrics you want to modified -- > set new interval in Collection Interval for Selected: field  (below the metric list)
    3. You can read more about metric parameters: http://pubs.vmware.com/vfabricHyperic50/topic/com.vmware.vfabric.hyperic.5.0/Metric_Parameters.html
  2. Try to read about recovery alerts it may help you.
    http://pubs.vmware.com/vfabricHyperic50/topic/com.vmware.vfabric.hyperic.5.0/Define_a_Recovery_Alert...
  3. Hyperic can’t limit the amount of CPU that Hyperic agent use.

Thanks,

Tal
