Blank page

Hey guys!

I am a newbie and I am installing the latest version of Hyperic on a box which already has JBoss 4.0.4, Apache2 and Tomcat 5.5 installed each as a standard configuration on a RHEL 4 box.

I followed the instructions for installing Hyperic and it was installed in /home/hyperic.

After starting the server, I navigate to http://ipaddress:7080/
I see the status page refreshing - Once the bar reaches 100% I get a blank page.

This does not happen when I install the Win32 dist on a Windows box. I am guessing this might be a permissions problem.

Anyone been in this situation before??

Its the classic "I-have-been-trying-to-figure-this-out-for-too-long-that-I-don't-see-anything-wrong".

Thx in advance!

Incidentally, could you let me know what linux's you have tested on (preferably recent ones)?

Everything I see on the website just says 'Linux'.

Thanks!

We test regularly on various Linux distributions including most versions
of CentOS, SLES 9, SuSE 8.1 and RedHat 8.0. We have test less
frequently on Debian 3.1, Gentoo 2005.1, FC 3 and 4. Have not tried FC5
yet. It will be pretty easy to do a quick sanity test on FC5. I'll try
to get to that soon and post some results.

That would be great.

I will keep watching this thread... please post when you have had a chance to check out FC5.

Thanks!

I installed FC5 last night and had no problem running HQ 2.7.4 server on
it. I did not run into the error you had. I did a text install, and
selected the "Software Developer" installation preset. A default
installation of HQ 2.7.4 installed and started up just fine.

Linux giant.intranet.hyperic.net 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp #1 SMP Tue Mar 14

I tried googling that error you got, and did not really find anything
useful. Maybe someone else can help out with what might cause that error?

One of the posts I found had someone questioning if the person who got
the error had a complete installation. Seems like a long shot, but you
could try re-downloading the package and re-installing in case you got
some corrupted download the first time.

Thanks much for your effort...

I did the same (re-installed with the standard 'software developer' packages), and yes, this time, it worked 'like a bought one' (as my old boss used to say)

This wasn't a corrupted package. There is some dependency...

anyways, thanks again! I can now begin playing...

best,
