Alerts not being sent by email? Mailserver setup? (Hyperic Open Source)

Hi,

I am new to Hyperic, so excuse me if this is a simple question, but I can't seem to get the email notification of alerts to work.

The alerts fire as expected, but no email is received. I have not at any stage in the Hyperic setup had to specify a mail server - is this a piece of configuration I am missing somewhere?

Is there any way to see a log of emails that it has tried to send?

Any advice gratefully received.
