Agent not able to communicate with Server

Hi,
I've set up Hyperic HQ , server and agent on the same Windows 2003 Server machine and everytime the agent starts up and tries to communicate with the server I get the following exception:

This "Unable to communicate with server -- provider not yet setup" we've seen time and time again on other test platforms.

Any help to resolve this issue would be appreciated.

Hi,

Its on Windows 2003 Server, and its

Hyperic HQ 4.5.0.

Heres the relative parts of the agent config :

agent.setup.camIP=10.20.5.56
agent.setup.camPort=7080
agent.setup.camSSLPort=7443
agent.setup.camSecure=no
agent.setup.camLogin=hqadmin
agent.setup.camPword=password
agent.setup.agentIP=10.20.5.56
agent.setup.agentPort=2144
#agent.setup.resetupTokens=no

# required to find server/lib/weblogic.jar
weblogic.installpath=C:\oracle\wls10.3.2.0\wlserver_10.3

plugins.exclude=db2,db2jdbc,apache,mysql
plugins.include=weblogic

Even with all this I still get the same problem.

Is the server installed under program files?
If so, stop the service. uninstall the service
move the install directory out from program files to a directory path with no spaces
reinstall the service
start the service. Hope this helps. There is a more detailed explantion in another thread. Search for jpostedc and you should find it.

Hi,

I moved both the server install and the agent install to a directory call c:\hyperic.

Upon start again, the same issue again in the end occurred :

the "provider not yet setup" message means the agent has not been configured with the IP and port of the server yet. This tends to happen in Windows environments because you are probably starting the agent via Windows Service. Try starting the agent in a command line window and see if it starts up. Once you start it on the command line and everything is working, you should be able to use the Windows Service from that point on.
