Agent (4.1.0) won't start on some servers

The servers I am having trouble with are:

Exchange 2003 on W2003 - the error

wrapper | The Hyperic HQ Agent service was launched, but failed to start.
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

And a SQL2000 on W2000 - the error

wrapper | Hyperic HQ Agent started.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: \bin\java

Not really sure if tge Windows Agent comes with the old hq-agent.exe. That would be a way to start the Agent without the Java Service Wrapper. So we can check if there is anything wrong with your Java Service Wrapper configuration and/or classpath.

Could you please check your environment variables for Java settings like JAVA_HOME ?

I just deleted the agent and installed again - seems ok for now

I will do what you suggested if it fails again
