Why do we need Informatica on VMware?

Informatica comes to the picture wherever we have a data system available and at the backend, we want to perform certain operations on the data. It can be like cleaning up of data, modifying the data, etc. based on certain set of rules or simply loading of bulk data from one system to another. Informatica offers a rich set of features like operations at row level of data, integration of data from multiple structured, semi-structured or unstructured systems, scheduling of data operation. It also has the feature of metadata, so the information about the process and data operations are also preserved.

Despite the fact that the support statement for virtual environments has been published by Informatica on the My Support portal (Informatica Network, left edge, pretty far down, there's a link named Support Statements), it's been a while but yes, I've tried that many years ago on a Windows XP machine. One VM running Windows 2000 with PowerCenter 8.1.1 SP5 (clients and DBMS), one VM running SuSe Linux 9.3 (PowerCenter 8.1.1 SP5 server). No problems at all. It wasn't fully supported at that time, but nowadays it is.
