Hello!
I'm having problems installing VCM 5.7.2 to Windows Server 2008R2. DB server is located on another server and is MS SQL 2012.
I was able to validate my DB connection and Reporting service connection and Installation started.
After installing some of the packages I am getting Error message: "Error during Installation package: VCM Reports (SSRS 2008) package: 16/51. Would you like to retry?" and installation fails.
My question is, that why VCM installation is trying to install MS SQL 2008 reporting service packages if I'm using validated MS SQL 2012 reporting service?
I could not find any information from documentation about this problem and how to fix it.
Thank You in advance.
Margus
The SSRS package is for 2008R2 because it needs to support 2008R2 and 2012, and SQL Server supports backwards compatibility, but not forwards compatibility.
If you open %temp% in File Explorer, go up one level, and then open _csi_installation, the newest files in this folder should be log files that may provide more detail about exactly what's failing.
Is SSRS on the DB server or on the VCM Collector machine?
Have had a similar problem, couple of things that aren't clearly documented in the standard install guide (think they may be in the Advanced guide, and if you dig around the web you'll also find references .. .eventually!)
Make sure to install
Apparently even for a 2012 SQL server these packages are still required by the installer for the SQL and SSRS installation. I had already had the native client install (found that requirement through an earlier issue in my original install) and then got exactly the same error as the one you have here , installed the command line tools, rebooted the server and the install ran through then.
