cluster cost model definition

Hi all,

I need a cost model for a cluster in which i have three hosts.

each host has a different configuration (different CPU speed, different memory dimension, and so on..) and

each host has a different purchase cost.

so, how can I configure a cost model to apply to the vm in the cluster?

thanks

when you're talking about a host, you hopefully mean a Virtual Machine, otherwise I would recommend to bring them back to a baseline.

Apart from that (let's say misunderstanding) I can recommend VMware Professional Services to calculate the cost factor of resource run-times including to facility; power, cooling, maintenance, hw/sw etc.

If you don't resell your resources but need it just for your own reference, keep it simple and use the fix mode.

I'm sorry that I can't provide a golden formula how to calculate the costs of a Virtual Machine. It actual doesn't exist.

Hi ,

with host i mean host (or host system if you prefer  Smiley Wink...)

i don't know how create a cost policy for the cluster in which there are three host system with different configuration.

when I define a pricing policy for virtual machine in cluster, in base rate calculator, which values should I enter? weigthed average costs?

Thanks
