Chargeback going away?

I will be working on a task soon for an organization the is using vSphere vCD.

(I hear vCD may also be moving into vCAC?)

They will be deploying next year and want to implement a chargeback process for the use of the VMs.

If vSPhere Chargback is going away soon, what is the logical step to implement a chargeback  process for vCD?

Is vCAC and theIT Business Management Suite an option?

thanks

From VMware vCenter Chargeback Manager: End of Availability FAQ:

Non-Service Provider customers who are looking for similar Chargeback Manager capabilities for their hybrid cloud initiatives are encouraged to consider VMware® IT Business Management Suite™.

With vCAC 6.0 the cost reporting comes from VMware IT Business Management (ITBM).

Thanks

I do not want to confuse vSPhere vCloud Hybrid Service with vCD and a private internal cloud.

Since the customer is using vCD, then we should look to  Business Management Suite vs Chrageback ?

Will Business Management Suite interface with vDC and vCenter?

For current vCD customers, should there be a migration from vCD to vCAC and Business Management Suite or is vCD staying around for a while?

From what I have read, it appears vCAC is replacing vCD or at least consuming a lot of the functionality.

If this were to be a new cloud deployment, then vCAC sounds like the correct path.

Chargeback is currently part of the vCloud Advanced suite and one of the main reasons we purchased that over standard.  So does this mean that we'll have to bump up to the Enterprise suite to keep the chargeback functionality?  If so that's taking away functionality from a product that is already very expensive.

I think it's vmware arn't selling em anymore for non VSSP. But if you did purchased ChargeBack, it's yours to use even after EOA.

See this one:

We met with VMware Engineers to discuss options in support of a task we are working on.

Chargeback will EOA next year.

If you are a Service Provider, there will be continued support and updates.

You also, as stated above, can use the license and product.

The plan is to move to ITBM Standard or Advanced and into vCAC.

We are investigating standalone ITBM Standard with vCD to see if Chargeback functionality is the same.

I expect more news out of VMworld on both fronts.

No new info from VMworld.

The movement to ITBM is the recommended path forward.

VMware is also offering discounts to move to ITBM if you currently have Chareback licenses.
