Hi All,
I have a vCenter Server installed on Windows 2008 and connecting to MS SQL 2008 installed on a remote machine via "Windows Authentication".
And I have a Chargeback installed on Windows 2008 and connecting to MS SQL 2008 installed on a remote machine via "SQL Authentication".
CB is up and running now and when I am trying to add the vCenter I am getting the error as shown below....
Can anyone please provide any suggestions
NOTE: SQL & Windows Authentication has been selected in both the SQL databases.
Also TCP/IP is enabled in the SQL Configuration Manager
I have tried connecting to the vCenter Database using Windows Authentication as well as "sa" but both is failing.
I can connect to the vCenter DB locally using windows authentication OR sa login
Please help
Thanks in Advance
Deepak
ISSUE RESOLVED
In the Database URL - "VMware documentation" suggests to give the URL as
<hostname>\<Instance Name>
or
<IP>\<Instance Name>
Well i was trying this all the while and nothing worked.
If you are using SQL - It is one instance with 1 or more databases. Hence in the Database URL - <Just mention the IP>
like :-
Database URL - 10.1.1.1
instead of
Database URL - 10.1.1.1\<instance name> - this may not work
NOTE: All our machines were not in domain but in workgroup.
thanks for sharing, i learn something new.
I am also struggling with this for some time now.
Can you list out all the variables?. I tried with only the server name and the database value as "VIM_VCDB", but i still get the credential error.
