The 'boot' screen capture you have included appears to be an amalgamation of two stages of the boot/response process, however putting that to one side for the time being . . . just checking, are you sure that that VM page has been selected so that it can reponed to the 'press any key'. It looks as though the timeout indication of six full stops has been exceeded, indicating that it did not respond to inputs from the keyboard.
