So a few hours ago, I was using my Kali Linux VM just fine, but now when I try to turn it on, I get this error message:
VMware Workstation cannot find the virtual disk "D:\Kali-Linux-2022.2\Kali-Linux-2022.2-vmware-amd64.vmdk". Verify the path is valid and try again.
The system cannot find the file specified
Cannot open the disk 'D:\Kali-Linux-2022.2\Kali-Linux-2022.2-vmware-amd64.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.
Module 'Disk' power on failed.
Failed to start the virtual machine.
When I open VM settings, I get this:
Obviously, the vmdk file is present in my VM directory. What's funny here is that I do not have any snapshots, nor have I ever created a single snapshot for this VM. I have not deleted any files, so I am confused as to why this is happening.
The "missing" vmdk file contains this:
Anyone knows why this is happening? I don't have any backup of files inside, so I can't just delete this VM and make a new one.
P.S Never mind I'm an idiot. It's because of Windows Defender. As always, causing problems everywhere.
