I can still reproduce a host crash by simply attaching my Creative Optia AF (uvc) webcam to a guest. Simply attaching it causes the kernel crash (blinking CAPSLOCK).
Host: Karmic Koala, Lucid Lynx, Maverick Meerkat, etc.
Also reported by another user with a Logitech UVC webcam.
Based on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1206775, I tried to simply rmmod uvcvideo, but the kernel still crashes. Doing the same with snd-usb-audio fails to unload the driver. I am wondering if this might indicate the underlying cause as a failure of VMware and these drivers to play nicely.
