We found our master image had a ghost NIC after installing the patch. Use the following steps to resolve. Note the the commands need to be exactly as shown, and there are no warnings or errors if typed incorrectly.
1. Run a command prompt as Administrator
2. Run the following commands
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
start devmgmt.msc
3. Click Show hidden devices on the View menu in Device Manager
4. Browse down to Network Devices and remove/uninstall any hidden/extra (grayed out) VMXNet3 NICs
