Sorry I didn't think of this one sooner, but glad you've gotten it running.
There have been a couple of things going on that have caused some really strange problems for Fusion. This is one, but there's another one that has been seen frequently - something changing the default permissions on /private/var/tmp. It's not clear whether that's the fault of macOS or something running behind the scenes.
