Ok, so, here's the basics:
I've got a Windows 7 machine that I need to run XP in, because "run in XP mode" doesn't work.
The machine (a laptop) has one RS232 port, and no parallel ports.
Inside the VM, it sees two COM ports and one parallel port. If I remove them from the VM, via hardware manager, and then scan for changes, they come right back.
I normally wouldn't care about the 2nd COM port and parallel port, but I think it's part of the issue. I would have thought that the virtual machine wouldn't add in ports that aren't there, but obviously I'm wrong.
What I want to do is be able, from the vm, communicate with the real COM port to talk to the equipment hooked up to it.
Are there configuration files I should be looking at for this?
