High ping from VM to ESXi

Hello everyone,

the setup looks like the following:

Host is a ProLiant DL360 Gen10 with 16 CPUs x Intel(R) Xeon(R) Silver 4215R CPU @ 3.20GHz.

Host has virtualization-mode in powersettings enabled.

ESXi 7.0 U3 is installed on a NVMe HPE NS204i-p Gen 500GB

256 GB RAM running on 2400 Mhz

2 Datastorages: 4.37 TB RAID 10 with HDDs + 1,75 TB RAID 10 with SSDs, both from HPE so no 3rd party hardware.

Networkadapter is HPE Eth 10Gb 2p 535FLR-T

There is 1 vSwitch with a VM-Network and the Management Network

All VMs use the VMXNET3, have static IP adresses from the same network and DNS is working as intended. IPv6 is in auto-config mode.

We're using latest firmware for all hardware inside the host and up-to-date Windows Server patches.

The problem is:

We're using software that is extremely slow when starting and has crashes on certain resource-intense calculations despite using the software-manufacturer advised settings for our AV and "more" than the recommended systemconfiguration.

They pointed us towards some tests including a ping test from a VM to the host which should be 1-2 ms but is around 10-13ms.

Doing the same test on other systems with almost identical configurations and software gives back a 1-2ms ping.

What am I missing to check?
